The Feyenoord fans seem to be able to breathe a sigh of relief for the time being. Their striker and top scorer Santiago Giménez just seems to stay in Rotterdam. General manager Dennis te Kloese has given an update about the interest in the Mexican goal getter.
Challenge for Gimenez
The 22-year-old attacker recently indicated that he wanted to stay in Rotterdam for at least another season and Te Kloese also says in conversation with the Mexican TV Aztec that the striker can still learn a lot at Feyenoord. “The biggest argument for him to stay is that we are entering the Champions League. For a player, there is no greater challenge than playing in the Champions League. He should take advantage of this.”
Nevertheless, Te Kloese is still cautious. “In football you never know, but at the moment there is no concrete interest.” According to the general manager, everything indicates that the striker will also play at Feyenoord next season. “He has a long-term contract. We have no indication that he will go to another club.”
Te Kloese also understands that the Mexican will not be retained for Feyenoord in the long run. “That will happen when the time is right, when he has played games in the Champions League and played more consistent games at a high level.
