Suspected arson The Hague has ended life in cell

The 24-year-old man who was in custody in a PPC (Penintiary Psychiatric Center) due to possible involvement in a fire on the Prinsegracht in The Hague, has died in his cell. On Monday morning, the man was found dead in his cell by guards, after he had taken his own life during the night, according to the Public Prosecution Service.

In the fire for which the man was arrested last week in the monumental building, 5 people were injured last month. Two people jumped out of the window during the night of April 18 to 19, according to Omroep West, where they were seriously injured. All fourteen homes in the seventeenth-century building were evacuated by the fire service and the thirty residents were taken care of elsewhere. For the time being, the investigation into the fire will continue, according to the OM.
