Sony introduces the Xperia 1V, the world’s first smartphone equipped with a newly developed stacked CMOS image sensor with 2-layer Transistor Pixel. Packed with advanced technology, the Xperia 1V meets the needs of professional creators. At the same time, this smartphone supports creators who are just starting to create content.
Capturing content at a higher level
The Xperia 1V raises the bar of smartphones with its newly developed image sensor that reproduces rich colors and textures of people, landscapes and scenes even in dark locations. Thanks to the combination of the low-light performance of the Xperia 1 V, which is about double that of the previous model, and its high-speed multi-frame overlay process technology, it is possible to take a noise-resistant photo. The dynamic range of this smartphone is even equal to that of a full-frame camera. The 24mm lens on the back of the Xperia 1V is equipped with a 2-layer Transistor Pixel stacked CMOS image sensor “Exmor T for mobile”. This sensor is about 1.7 times larger than the image sensor in other Xperia’s. In addition, the 85-125mm (F2.3-F2.8) optical zoom lens enables clear portraits to be captured with little distortion.
S-Cinetone, known by videographers, is adapted and installed for the smartphone. Because the texture of human skin can be beautifully expressed in shooting, it is now also possible to record an impressive film image without having to edit the colors later. In addition, the new sensor is capable of approximately three times as much saturation as the conventional sensor. The Xperia 1 V’s unique image quality processing suppresses noise that usually occurs when shooting in low-light conditions. This results in beautiful images with soft colors.
The Xperia 1V has a host of features, including color presets such as Creative Look, which can also be found in Sony’s Alpha series cameras. Different color presets are preset, such as colorful flowers and a clear blue sky, or creating a soft, transparent finish. This device also has high-quality real-time AF (autofocus). With Xperia’s high-performance Real-time Eye AF and Real-time Tracking, you can shoot by focusing on a person’s or subject’s eyes. With AI depth that analyzes distance information, even distant subjects can be clearly focused. In addition, high-speed continuous shooting of up to 30 frames per second with AF/AE tracking is possible, so you don’t miss a single moment.
Improved vlogging experience
The Xperia 1V meets the needs of all kinds of creators with the Product Showcase setting. This is a popular feature of Sony’s vlogging cameras, which shifts the camera’s focus to the product, rather than the creator’s face, when shooting video. In addition, a new microphone with voice priority has been placed on the back of the phone. This means that even at a busy outdoor location, the voice of the creator is clearly recorded. This also makes it easier to share the video directly on social media. When recording a YouTube live stream, the “Videography Pro” video recording feature exposes viewer chats in the comments section, enabling instant interaction with viewers in real-time. The UI also supports vertical recording, so you can record content in any way, vertically or horizontally.
An immersive experience
This latest compact smartphone from Sony features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and offers more image sharpness. The powerful and low-noise speaker amplifier of this unit improves the dispersion and depth of the sound and the extension of the low and high frequencies, creating a more dynamic and clear sound. The Xperia 1V offers an authentic movie and music viewing experience without the need for an additional speaker.
On the back, this device has a functional design that uses uniquely developed textured glass. In combination with the small notches on the side, this ensures a stable grip and prevents the smartphone from slipping out of your hand when you hold it while shooting or viewing content.
Long battery life and powerful CPU
Despite using a 4K screen, it is possible to play uninterrupted videos for about 20 hours thanks to the powerful 5,000mAh battery. The device also supports wireless charging and 30 minutes of fast charging up to 50%. Also, Xperia’s unique charge optimization technology ensures that the battery retains 80% or more of its maximum capacity, even after 3 years.
By improving power consumption and heat dissipation, the Xperia 1V achieves both high performance and durability, and it is possible to shoot for a long time while suppressing heat generation. Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Mobile Platform, the CPU power efficiency has been improved by about 40% over the previous model. The power consumption during camera operation has been improved by about 20%, and the volume of the heat dispersion plate has been increased by about 60% for heat dissipation from the main unit.
Accessibility and sustainability
With ongoing efforts to provide greater accessibility, the Xperia 1V includes a Photo Pro feature that uses sounds to inform users of the screen’s horizontal and vertical dimensions.
Sony has drawn up the “Road to Zero” environmental plan that aims for zero environmental impact by 2050. To achieve this, Sony is taking action and setting environmental targets step by step over a period of time. As part of these environmental goals, we aim to completely eliminate plastic packaging materials for newly designed small products by 2025.
The Xperia 1V’s plastic-free packaging consists of Sony’s unique Original Blended Material, which is made from bamboo, sugar cane fibers and recycled paper collected from the market. We are also working to reduce the amount of virgin plastic in the device. Some elements, both inside and outside, of the main unit use SORPLAS, a flame-retardant recycled plastic developed by Sony that contains up to 99% recycled content. Case with stand for the Xperia 1V (XQZ-CBDQ)
The exclusive case for Xperia 1V has a kickstand on the bottom to enhance the shooting experience. In addition to the conventional horizontal stand, it also supports a vertical stand, making it easy to use not only for watching videos, but also for live stream and video chat. The back of the case contains the same texture as the back of the Xperia 1V body, so that the original design of the device is not completely lost when you use the case. Three colors are available to match the body.
