ADO officially sentenced to one more year in the first division

‘A miracle’, according to Boy Kemper, that’s what ADO needed to get the desired ticket for the playoffs for promotion during the denouement of the season. However, the residents of The Hague were unable to do magic. With two rounds to go, the curtain finally fell for ADO last night. The gap with number 8 VVV-Venlo of seven points can no longer be closed.
And so ADO closes the wrestling season on a minor note. A campaign that started full of hope after the appointment of Dirk Kuyt, but soon ended in disappointment. Under Kuyt, ADO camped in the basement of the first division, after which things went considerably better after his inevitable dismissal and the appointment of Dick Advocaat. However, inconstancy broke ADO in the final phase of the competition. The team from The Hague was not stable and strong enough to complete the catch-up race.
Disappointing
“Too many boys have not reached their level this season,” sighs Boy Kemper, who himself suffered from Achilles tendon complaints for a long time. “And at decisive moments it was always not easy. All in all, it has just been a disappointing season.”
Also in Amsterdam, ADO, where Jordy Wehrmann suddenly started in the base after his last appearance in February, had another unpleasant evening. Goals from Kristian Hlynsson (two), Donny Warmerdam and Mika Godts gave the Hagenars their thirteenth defeat of the season. ADO, where Kemper scored the tying goal (2-1), ended the game with ten men after a red card for Guillem Rodriguez. Thomas Verheydt’s hundredth goal (4-2) in the first division was for the statistics.
Kemper cannot believe that ADO is not even in the left row of the Kitchen Champion Division. “In terms of selection, we should be in the top five, perhaps ADO is the biggest club in the competition. We were just not there when we had to.”
And so ADO has to recharge for competitions that are no longer about anything in the coming weeks. Two more games left and the disastrous season is over. Kemper refuses to give up. “These weeks will only last longer if you lose. We just have to end it well together. I myself always feel like playing matches. And the coming period is also an opportunity to put yourself in the spotlight. “
Kemper is one of the fifteen players at ADO who have an expiring contract. The left leg does not yet know where his future lies. He still hasn’t heard from ADO. The defender received an offer to extend a few months ago, but did not agree. The club was supposed to come back with an improved offer, but that did not happen for the time being. The lack of a technical director, general manager and a coach for next season causes an uncertain situation in The Hague.
Clarity
And in the meantime, Kemper’s name is increasingly singing around at clubs in the premier league, where Go Ahead Eagles already showed interest last winter. “The door to a longer stay at ADO is really still open, but then there has to be a conversation. Now I haven’t heard anything all season. I wouldn’t know who to do that with either. That’s also for the players annoying. I hope there will be clarity soon.”
