It’s red carpet looks time again in Cannes! It 76st edition of the Film Festival started on May 16. All the spotlight was on that first day infant terrible Johnny Depp who garnered minutes of applause (the length of which is under discussion, according to Depp it was no less than seven minutes) with the film Joan of Barrya costume drama.
The French seaside resort of Cannes is teeming with these days movie stars and celebs. On the Boulevard de la Croissette, for short La Crossettecelebrities stroll in casual wearthe beautiful people appear on the red carpet in the most beautiful robes.
Red carpet looks from the 2023 Cannes Film Festival
A little celeb is dressed by a big fashion house. We have several red carpet looks from Dior for you. The fashion house also dressed day one star Johnny Depp.
The actor appeared in a neat gray suit with a white shirt and V-neck sweater. Depp wore the shirt unbuttoned and – of course – without a tie. He was also spotted wearing a gray stripe suit and shirt in the same gray stripe he wore with a black felt hat and 1970s sunglasses with lilac lenses, a look more in keeping with his rebellious personality.
Uma Thurman stole the show in one skin colored long dress from Dior with a large red cloak that she had dropped loosely from her shoulders. Belgian model Rose Bertram also appeared in flaming glamor red with long earrings (long earrings are a trend for summer 2023).
The most iconic Dior dress we saw on this first day on the red carpet, we believe, is that of Italian Beactress Borromeo. She was wearing a long dress black and beige lace with low-cut neckline. We come across these types of dresses in the Dior collection for summer 2023.
The dress of top model Karlie Kloss is also Dior in its entirety. The gold dress is inspired by the classic peignoir (dressing coat) that we usually only wear indoors. In the summer collection of Dior we encounter many hints to lingerie.
Makeup and hair
If we go to the makeup look we see both natural looks and heavily made up eyes with a touch of gold. But most striking is the return of blush in pink or orange (orange in particular is going to be a huge make-up trend this summer). Instead of strongly contouring, the belles of the ball for healthy blushes that seemed to warm the face from within.
In terms of hairstyles we saw nothing new under the sun: from loose manes to classic updos to the always-good-hair-sleek-out-of-your-face-with-middle-parted look.
