EU investigates complaints about Microsoft Azure

The EU may investigate market abuse by Microsoft in the cloud. HThe question is whether Microsoft uses confidential data to win contracts for its Azure platform. The platform has a dominant position in the region.

The Commission has received several complaints about Microsoft, an EU spokesperson told The Register, but does not name the complainants.

The EU has written to various Microsoft customers with questions.

Microsoft is already facing complaints on several fronts: Slack objected to bundling Teams with Office 365, Nextcloud filed documents with the EU about Microsoft bundling OneDrive with Windows and OVHcloud, DCC and Aruba Spa jointly complained about the restrictive software licenses from Redmond in the cloud. A settlement has already been reached with the latter parties.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also working to map out the cloud market. Germany is also investigating whether Microsoft abuses its position in the country at the expense of companies and consumers.
